Course Details

3D Safety Services offers public and private group and individual training for working safely at heights. We run public courses in Newcastle, NSW and private courses across NSW. A nationally recognised training program covering hazard identification, risk management and best practice in working at heights.

This course involves advanced concepts on how to work safely at heights through a combined delivery approach, using both theory and practical exercises.

It is a legal requirement that any person, regardless of industry, who performs any type of work more than 2 meters off the ground, must be trained in working at heights.

This one-day course is ideally suited to workers in the construction and mining industries, who either work above 2 metres or where fall protection equipment is required.

 

Course Content

  • WHS Legislation

  • Risk assessment and Hierarchy of Control

  • Basic Height Terminologies

  • Height Safety Equipment

  • Anchoring

  • Safe Ladder Techniques

  • Maintenance and Inspection

  • Emergency procedures and rescue requirements

  • Developing Site Procedures and Safe Work Methods (SWMS, JSA’s)

The program involves an extensive practical skills development module in a simulated or real workplace and includes two Working at Heights practicals.

 

Course Elements

The essential outcomes for the course as prescribed in the unit of competency requirements are:

RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights: Identify work requirements, identify work procedures and instructions, access and install equipment, perform work at heights and clean up work area.

RIIRIS201E – Conduct local risk control: Plan and prepare for risk control, assess and identify unacceptable risk, identify, assess and implement risk treatments and complete records and reports.

 

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion students will receive a Wallet Card and Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework for the following units of competency:
RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights
RIIRIS201E – Conduct local risk control
