Course Details

Introduction

This course aims to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and competently work safely at heights. These skills are applied through written, discussion, questioning, role-plays and practical application for the industry speci?c unit of competency RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights.

Training delivery combines blended delivery learning via the Loadwise Australia online teaching platform and onsite face-to-face delivery via Trainer led practical sessions.

 

Pre-Requisite

There are no unit pre-requisites for the Work Safely at Heights course however Learners must be physically able to perform practical activities involving working at height. These activities may range from donning a fall arrest harness to climbing ladder systems. Contact our of?ce for clari?cation if required.

To achieve competency in the Work Safely at Heights assessment Learners will also require the ability to read; correctly interpret signage; speak clearly and unambiguously in English; and to explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms as is an understanding of basic mathematics and calculations. Pre-enrolment skills checks are used by Loadwise Australia if doubt arises for students that may have language, literacy and numeracy issues.   • Legislation in the Workplace

  • Plan Work - Job at hand; hazards and controls; access and egress

  • Personal Protective Equipment - Fall Restraint Systems; Fall Arrest Systems including full-body harness donning, care and maintenance in accordance with AS 1891

  • Safe Working at Heights - Edge protection; scaffolds; ladder and tower safety; anchor points and static lines; plant access and egress; EWP’s; tools and equipment at heights; housekeeping and rescue procedures

  • Practical assessment - Fall arrest PPE inspection and demonstration of safe, con?dent work practices at heights
