The award was introduced to recognize the participating organizations that are proactively and continually improving their Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) performance, not just based on their normal lagging indicators but also on their consistency, persistence, and resilience in their OSH practices at the workplace.
The MSOSH Award is intended to give due recognition to all member organizations and companies that have achieved commendable OSH performance and/or have shown remarkable improvement in their OSH processes through a sound safety and health management system.

The Malaysian Society for Industrial Safety was registered on April 27th, 1971. The Malaysian Society for Industrial Safety was registered on April 27th, 1971.
In 1989, MSIS members discussed a potential draft of an Occupational Safety and Health Act that would be enforced in the near future. This wind of change has moved MSIS to make a significant decision and its direction in order to maintain its relevancy to the needs of the industry.
