Course Details

This advanced course covers NZQA Unit Standards 23229, 15757 and 17600. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal requirements, guide you through the inspection of various fall arrest systems, ropes and knots.

With our purpose build indoor training facility, we provide practical scenarios that will focus on installation of proprietary height safety systems, anchor points, rescue plans and restraint systems. This course also cover any hazards associated with scaffolds, EWP, walkways, ramps and stairways.

Unit Standard 23229 is the pre-requisite unit before you can obtain Unit Standard 15757.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Use a safety harness for personal fall prevention when working at height.
  • Identifying anchor points and prepare to install a proprietary fall arrest systems for safety at height.
  • Installing horizontal and vertical temporary proprietary fall arrest systems while working at height.
  • Using proprietary fall arrest systems.
  • Disestablishing proprietary fall arrest systems.
  • Explaining the legislative requirements associated with working at heights.
  • Explaining the systems suitable for working at heights.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with wearing a safety harness and associated equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety harnesses and associated systems and equipment.
  • Check and fit a safety harness system.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the rescue plan to be activated in the event of a fall.
  • Identify the common types of height safety equipment in the workplace.
  • Use height safety equipment and plan rescue techniques and emergency procedures for working at height.
