Rigging is the science and art of attaching a load to a structure. It is a specialised form of construction work that aims at installing, dismantling, inspecting and maintaining the support systems for a structure or a building.

These support systems include scaffolding, cranes, derricks, hoists, ladders, staircases and lifts.

What is Rigging Training?

Many South African industries have been at the forefront of innovation in the construction industry. This has seen many companies being responsible for developing products that have been used the world over.

However, even in the 21st century the standard of training for this sector may still seem inadequate. The need for a standardised and uniform skills-based training programme was firmly recognised by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in 2005 and was included as a specific category under the heading Construction Occupations.
