The purpose of a Working at Heights training program is to:

Provide workers who may be exposed to the hazard of falling with adequate knowledge about fall hazards and general safety practices to work safely at heights
Provide workers who use personal fall protection equipment with sufficient knowledge about its purpose and use
Reduce the number of fall-from-heights incidents, injuries, and fatalities
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Recognize working at heights hazards
Explain the hierarchy of controls
Discuss safe work plans
Identify and assess when ladders are appropriate
Explain proper inspection, care, and use of ladders
Describe types of warning methods and physical barriers
Identify when warning methods and physical barriers are required
Discuss limitations, application, and storage of different fall protection systems
Calculate fall distances
Demonstrate how to inspect the equipment, don and doff of a harness, and maintain 100% tie-off
Discuss the differences between permanent, temporary, and structural anchors
Select the appropriate fall protection equipment when working on a platform
Explain the purpose, roles, and responsibilities of workplace parties with respect to a rescue plan
Following the theory part of the program, there will be a practical evaluation completed. This consists of a facilitator observing the trainee and testing their abilities to put the theory into practice and maintain 100% tie-off as well as use equipment as it is designed.

This is a Spill Containment course in Calgary designed to be industry and site specific. Training can be conducted in a half-day session or longer according to your requirements.
Through a combination of theory and practical application, this course provides basic operator training for working with Type 3, Group B MEWPs with a focus on managing hazards and selecting, inspecting, and operating a MEWP.
