Course Details

This course is Ontario Ministry of Labour approved and designed for anyone already using as a part of their job, or is new to the use of fall protection equipment. In this program we will be discussing what fall protection is, the components of a fall protection system as well as the inspection and proper use to ensure safety and efficiency in the workplace.

The practical component of this course will include a demonstration of the knowledge and ability of each participant. Upon successful completion of this program all necessary paperwork will be submitted to the Ministry for final certification proicessing.

  • Relevant Provincial Legislation
  • Differences Between Passive And Active Restraint
  • Fall Arrest System (I.E. Harness, Belt, Lanyard, Shock Absorption)
  • When Belts Should Be Used
  • Different Classes Of Harnesses And Their Uses
  • Different Anchorages (Engineered, Non-Engineered)
  • Different Types Of Lanyards
  • Calculating Total Fall Distances
  • Rope Grabs And Related Equipment
  • Horizontal Life Lines
  • Forming A Rescue Plan
  • Suspension Trauma
  • Summary (Written Knowledge Verification)

 

Practical Component (Hands On)

  • Inspection Of The Harness Before Use
  • Inspection Of The Lanyard
  • Proper Sizing And Use Of The Harness For Each Individual
  • Proper Care And Storage Of The Harness And Lanyard To Maximize Life
