Participants in this program will learn about recognizing and evaluating fall hazards in their workplace, describing the legislation, standards and guidelines that apply to fall hazards, listing controls for these hazards, and describing a plan of action to reduce injuries from falls in their workplace.

A practical component is included in the program and includes fit testing and inspection of fall prevention equipment.
This course is valid for Industrial Regulation requirements.

Participants will discuss the fundamental elements of how to work safely at heights in a non-construction-related environment.

  • Rights and responsibilities
  • Identifying hazards
  • Hierarchy of controls and limitations of PPE
  • Warning methods and physical barriers
  • Ladder safety
  • Intro to PPE
  • More advanced information on fall protection systems including
    hands-on demonstration of equipment and procedures, practical
    demonstration of the proper use, inspection and donning
  • Barriers and other fixed equipment
  • Fall protection equipment (travel restraint, fall restricting, fall arrest)
  • Anchor points
  • Work access platforms
  • Rescue planning
