For anyone who hasn’t completed any working at height training we recommend this course to form a good foundation of knowledge. Please note that this is not an NZQA course – it’s better.

It covers the same content as the following unit standards plus any additional content that would be beneficial to your unique business situation. Students are assessed by one of our NZQA certified trainers.

 

Explain safe work practices for working at heights

  • Explain the legislative requirements associated with working at heights, and the systems suitable for working at heights

 

Use, install and disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems when working at height

  • Identify anchor points and prepare to install a temporary proprietary height safety system
  • Install horizontal and vertical temporary proprietary height safety systems
  • Use temporary proprietary height safety systems
  • Disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems

 

Use safety harness system when working at height

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards associated with wearing a safety harness and associated equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety harnesses and associated systems and equipment
  • Check and fit a safety harness system
  • Use a safety harness system where a fall hazard exists at height
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the rescue plan to be activated in the event of a fall
