Arctic Response provides one of the few classroom based WHMIS 2015 programs available. This training method greatly improves student comprehension, especially for workers who learn better with people than through computers. Classroom based training provides candidates the opportunity to discuss related product specific issues or work processes for their workplaces.
Recently, Canada aligned WHMIS regulations with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). The WHMIS 2015 legislation is currently in force, meaning that suppliers may begin to use the new requirements for labels and safety data sheets (SDSs) for hazardous products sold, distributed, or imported into Canada. However, there is a transition period with various stages.

In shorthand, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System is known as WHMIS. It is a system that is enforced all over Canada, on the proper labeling of controlled product containers and the training of the staff handling them
Workplace Safety and Health regulations require that workers be informed about the hazards of controlled products used within their workplace. On an annual basis, workers must receive the appropriate WHMIS training to enable them to work safely.
WHMIS is in a period of transition between two hazard communication regimes - WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015 (which incorporates the GHS).
Upon the successful completion of this safety training program, participants will understand: The legislative requirements (Government Regulations and CSA Standards); The duties and responsibilities of all workplace stakeholders; WHMIS exemptions; WHMIS categories;
WHMIS Supervisor course is offered by Construction Safety Nova Scotia. Our instructors have industry experience and use practical and interactive learning techniques to ensure you get the training you need.
