Description

A Level 3 sports massage therapist’s role includes planning, providing and evaluating sports massage treatments. Treatments can be carried out for pre-, post- and inter-event, maintenance and restorative purposes, using a range of basic massage techniques. You will be qualified to provide sports massage to a range of clients who have no underlying pathological conditions. Please note, applicants must be 19 or over to buy the course.

Modules may include

The course covers the following: - Anatomy and physiology for sports massage - Principles of health and fitness - Professional practice in sports massage - Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction - Sports massage treatments

Assessment methods

  • The assessment comprises of: - MCT theory paper - Workbook - Worksheets - Observed treatment session (x3)

Further course information

This is a blended learning course delivered in the classroom (every 2nd Saturday for 6 Saturdays) but also requiring online studies. The candidates gain access to relevant study materials online. The full qualification takes approximately 12 weeks to complete.

Entry Level / Level 1 and Level 2: We're here to help you on your journey, so if you do not achieve grade 9 - 4 (previously A* - C) in GCSE English and/or maths, then you will study English and/or maths as part of your college course.

Students who achieve a grade 3 (previously D) will be placed on the relevant GCSE programme, while students who achieve a grade 2 (previously E) or below will be assessed to ensure they are placed on the right study programme for their ability.

Level 3 programmes: You will need to meet the course entry requirements specified on the course information above. For the majority of our Level 3 courses, students will need grade 9 - 4 (previously A* - C) in GCSE English and/or maths. If this is not specified in the course entry requirement, then you may be able to study English and/or maths as part of your college course.

Industry Placements are an integral part of the study programme for all FE Learners at WCG. Learners on Level 1 and 2 programmes will be required to undertake 60 hours of relevant placement per academic year and Learners at Level 3 will be required to undertake between 72 hours up to 315 hours (45 day placement) per year depending on the course requirements.
