In June 2005, the Co-operative of SCDF Employees Ltd (COSEM) was registered under the Co-operative Societies Act of Singapore with a primary mandate to create secondary career opportunities for retired and former personnel of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
A uniformed government organisation that provides fire safety, firefighting, rescue and emergency medical services to the population of Singapore. Sitting on the Board of COSEM are serving SCDF officers:
To provide skills and knowledge required to wear and remove medical PPE safely to ensure proper protection from COVID-19.
To equip Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the Basic Rescue Skills to conduct Confined Space Rescue in relation to SCDF CERT and relevant approved code of practice from MOM. Participants will learn the use of the various rescue equipment during the course.
To equip Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the Basic Rescue Skills to conduct Height Rescue in relation to relevant approved code of practice from MOM. Participants will learn the use of various height rescue equipment, tying of the various knots and the skills required to conduct height rescue.
To prepare Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) members with the knowledge and skills to handle fire hazards (identify hazards and prevent fires from occurring) and mitigate outbreak of fire and HazMat incidents in the plant. The training includes practical training sessions and exercises.
This course will cross-train participants in fundamental security and safety knowledge and skills. Participants will also learn how to use them in an integrated manner when handling incidents or responding to emergencies at the workplace.
