DIFL has its origins rooted in the fervent passion and boundless love for education of its visionary founder, Late Dr. V. K. Sharma. A renowned professor of Chemistry at the University of Rajasthan, Dr. Sharma embarked on a journey into the world of linguistic exploration when he traveled to Italy for research work for several years.

While there, apart from his regular research work in Chemistry with Professor Franco Viglia, he was immersed in the study of Italian at the Dante School of Italian in Rome, which left an indelible impression on him and inspired him to create a language institute of his own upon his return to India.
