2005 was a year of innovations and discoveries. Youtube, Airbus, XBox, Face Transplant Surgery made a foray into the public domain. And along with them, Gandhi Institute of Hotel Management started its humble journey at Salt Lake, Kolkata, under the name Gandhi Academy of Management Studies.

Back then, the cost of pursuing a degree in management was skyhigh. And that pushed a lot of students to opt out from this fantastic opportunity to join a booming industry. Which is where the founders of our institute, esteemed Chairman Shrimati Sarbani Das and honourable Managing Director Shri Avishek Mitra, came into this bleak academic picture and transformed the lives of many students when they opened the doors of Gandhi Institute of Hotel Management. And students from East and North East India were looking exactly at this opportunity to get a global exposure at a very friendly budget. And thus, with 26 bright and young batch of students, Gandhi Institute of Hotel Management took its flight to take the world by storm.

And since then, it has been an upward journey of all round development for Gandhi Institute of Hotel Management. With our ever growing infrastructure, state of the art labs, and most importantly our distinguished faculty members, we have managed to earn the faith of the students and trust of their guardians. And we kept our promise and provided the students the best in class academic environment so that they excel and get placements from all over the world.

This journey of a decade and a half has garnered accolades from all quarters, which includes the Nava Jyoti award for being the best institute for placements for the years 2005 and 2008, the Rotary Samman Award for being the institute conducting courses for the Economically Challenged students, the Frontier Award in the year 2010 by the states for maximum Global Exposure of the students from the Eastern part of India, CSR Award for best Hotel Management Institute in Eastern India for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 consecutively.

Sometime mid 2004 Gandhi Institute of Hotel Management (as it presently named) started its operation with the name Gandhi Academy Of Management Studies. The location being a corner of the greater Calcutta – Salt Lake.The mission being to impart education in the professional field of study to the young and budding students of the Eastern and North Eastern India. Our dream was to give these students a Global Exposure with a pocket – friendly budget. We started with a set of 26 bright young students that year(2004) – they were a real support to show to the world – the prize of the Millennium was here.

We extend our gratitude to the parents and guardians of the students who extended their immense help and support till date, so also did the students and the relentless efforts of all our faculty members and all other staffs of our institute encouraged good stay and good results from the students. The state of the art Labs also was of immense help for the students, thus with all honesty the mission of G.I.H.M. stands as the forerunner. To top it all was excellent placement.
