Infusion Nurses Society- United States of America

The Infusion Nurses Society (INS) is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1973. It is situated in United States, MA. For more than 42 years, INS has been committed to bringing innovative new resources and opportunities to a wide range of healthcare professionals who are involved with the specialty practice of infusion therapy.

Infusion Nursing develops as a Specialty

Infusion therapy has evolved from an extreme measure used on only the most critically ill to a highly specialized form of treatment used for 90% or more of all hospitalized patients. Infusion therapy in today’s world has become the most vital part of the health care system. No longer confined to the hospital setting, infusion therapies are now delivered in alternative care sites such as the home, skilled nursing facilities, and clinics.

The growth of the infusion nursing specialty continues with the advances in pharmacology and technology. As new biologic agents, whose method of administration is via infusion, continue to increase, so too will the infusion nurse’s role. As this role strengthens and grows, the need for a specialized and committed body is vital to provide with the educational opportunities and resources to support our members and the specialty. INS is the premier professional organization for infusion nursing and the ultimate resource for successful infusion practice.
