I started teaching sewing by chance at Sewco Sewing and Patchwork (since closed) which I throughly enjoyed. At last, I have branched out to start my own learn to sew classes.
In this class you will learn to adjust a basic commercial pattern to fit your shape and how to use it as a base to adjust other patterns for perfect fit every time. You can also do classes on how to make your own patterns from your basic block. (Start with 2 classes or 1 on 1 tuition)
You will work through basic information on choosing a pattern, fabrics, cutting out and sewing. In this class you will make a pair of pull on pants (allow at least 2 classes) or a skirt with a zip (allow at least 3 classes).
Learn the basics of using your overlocker. Master threading, adjusting tensions, differential feed, stitch length, rolled hems and more. If you are scared to get your overlocker out of the box, dust it off and come to class (1 class)
Do you want to understand working with knit (stretch) fabrics? This class takes you through fabric selection, cutting and techniques for working with knit fabrics. You can make a basic t- shirt in the process (allow at least 2 classes).
