The Academy founder, Tim Brodie, came from a military background, with 30 years of experience in the Canadian Forces. On his retirement he moved to a police environment, providing support to the RCMP.
He quickly realized an important lesson: the military is a training environment that goes operational while the police is an operational environment that tries to squeeze in training. That's the niche requirement that the Academy was founded on.
These nine days of learning are a combination of experiential learning mixed with a wide variety of models that can be applied to develop individual leadership capacities. However, the learning also requires a deep amount of self-reflection.
