The Speech Practice has two speech pathologists, Rachel and Lisa who work together closely as a team to assist all clients and patients. In treatment sessions, you will possibly have sessions with one or two of us throughout any treatment program. Our cozy speech pathology clinic is conveniently located near Dhoby Ghaut station.
Who We Are
Rachel is a Senior Speech Therapist. Rachel attained a Bachelor of Speech Pathology with First Class Honors (Class I) from The University of Queensland, Australia.
In clinical practice since 2013, Rachel has spent many years working in an acute hospital, specializing in the assessment and intervention of communication, stuttering, voice and swallowing disorders in the adult population. Rachel then moved to a community hospital, where she led a team of Speech Therapists.
Rachel spearheaded new services in the community hospital, such as group therapy in swallowing and speech rehabilitation. Rachel has served as a Clinical Educator to speech pathology students and junior staff. Rachel also conducted numerous training sessions for healthcare professionals, community partners and teachers.
Rachel is trained in Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT) for apraxia and speech impairments, as well as Lee Silverman Voice Treatment® (LSVT) for Parkinson’s disease.
In Australia, Rachel gained experience working with children with speech and language delays, including those with hearing impairment. Rachel also provided early intervention in a mental health setting.
As a mother to a young toddler, Rachel strives to empower other parents with appropriate knowledge and skills to create a supportive environment where the young ones can bloom. Rachel believes in maximizing the potential and function of her clients, to achieve fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Outside of work, Rachel is an active member of her church and enjoys travelling and spending time outdoors with her family. Rachel is fully-registered with the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) in Singapore and a member of Speech and Language Therapy Singapore (SALTS).
