Vijay Marie College Of Nursing

The Society of the Sisters of Charity of Secunderabad Province is a Registered Society under the Public Registration Act, in the year 1963. It serves the States of A.P and Telangana through a number of Schools, Colleges, Hospitals and Health Centers. The service in the Health Sector began with the arrival of three Italian sisters to King George Memorial Hospital (present Gandhi Hospital), Secunderabad in 1915.

Vijay Marie Hospital had a humble beginning in the midst of Chintal Basthi Slums in the year 1948. To day, it has grown into a 250 bedded General Hospital, catering to all the sections of society, especially the poor.

VIJAY MARIE SCHOOL OF NURSING was established in the year 1973. Over the past 40 years, it has proved to be one of the best schools of Nursing in A.P. & Telangana, maintaining high professional standards and providing all-round development to the students.

To cope with the rapid advancement in Health Sciences and to meet the demands of the society, the Management took the initiative to start the COLLEGE OF NURSING and today, it has become a reality. We have obtained approval of the Government of A.P., Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and A.P., Nursing Council and affiliation to Dr.N.T.R.University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. With gratitude in our hearts to God who is the author of all good works and to all those who have helped and encouraged us in this endeavor, we had the grace to start the B.Sc (N) for the academic year 2003-2004.

With due permission from our Generalate, Milan, Italy, the management took further step in starting M.Sc (N) from 2013. With blessings from the Almighty God, the College went through the process of many inspection by INC, State Nursing Council and NTR University of Health Sciences and obtained the necessary permission to begin the M.Sc (N) course from the academic year 2013-2014.

As a teaching hospital, we have three P.G. programmes for Doctors

1. Masters in "Family Medicine" in collaboration with C.M.C., Vellore.

2. Fellowship programme in Neonatology in collaboration with Fernandes Hospital from 2010.

3. DNB (OBG) from 2012.
