Guest chef Bevan Smith, founder of award winning restaurant Riverstone Kitchen and writer of several cookbooks, will run one day classes at The Akaroa Cooking School.
Bevan will be demonstrating a five course menu showcasing local, seasonal produce and give his guests an insight into the cooking techniques used to achieve the food that is served at Riverstone Kitchen.
Bevan will be sticking to his philosophy that the high standards recognised in first-class restaurants can be achieved in your own home.
Bevan’s experience in the kitchen is quite something. After working for several years in London at Terence Conran’s La Pont de la Tour and Michael Caine’s Canteen, Bevan moved to Australia where he became head chef at Philip Johnson’s acclaimed ècco bistro.
Bevan’s down to earth and approachable manner comes across in his teaching style and his classes are always extremely popular. With classes limited to 16, it will be a very intimate teaching environment and matching local wines with each dish will ensure a complete day of indulgence!
