Purpose
To up-skill health professionals in the core competencies to manage Adolescents with ABI across settings
Learning Outcomes
An understanding of how Adolescents sustain ABI.
Knowledge of brain development.
Appreciation of the typical presentations that might follow an ABI, and how they may present in different settings eg home, classroom etc
An understanding of the changing needs of adolescents with developmental stages.
Awareness of the importance of collecting relevant information.
Improve awareness of regional pathways for adolescents with experience of ABI.
Audience
Aimed at any staff working in children’s or adolescent services, or those in adult acquired brain injury services who would receive adolescent referrals. Target audience of occupational therapists, speech & language therapists, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists and their assistant staff.
It is also recognised that there are additional AHPs who may also benefit, including podiatrists, orthoptists, radiographers, dieticians etc.

Blended delivery - Day 1: ½ day virtual & Day 2: face to face

The HSC Clinical Education Centre (CEC) is a unit of the Business Service Organisation (BSO). CEC design and deliver education that supports Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals across Northern Ireland.
