Introduction To Cupcake Decorating
In this class, you will learn various tips and tricks to be able to create beautiful cupcakes again at home. I’ll teach you how to colour sugar paste, how to treat it so it holds its shape for your toppers, and how to use a variety of cutters, plunger cutters, moulds and veiners.
You’ll learn how to pipe buttercream in three different ways and will end the class decorating your own set of 12 freshly baked vanilla cupcakes. I’ll share a vanilla cupcake and buttercream recipe and give you my tips for producing beautifully smooth buttercream for piping.
Hi, I’m Marie, welcome to Marie’s Bakehouse. I produce all my makes and bakes from my home kitchen in Urmston, Manchester.
As well as producing beautifully decorated and deliciously tasting cookies and handmade cake toppers for posting or local collection (which you can find in my shop) I make celebration cakes and teach sugarcraft classes for both adults and children. I also run cupcake decorating parties. I have written for different cake-baking and decorating magazines and you can find lots of my tutorials in Bake and Decorate Magazine (formally Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft Magazine). I have won many awards at Cake International, including Golds and First in Class.
I started making cakes after ordering two cakes, which turned out to be terrible, for celebrations when my daughters were small. I decided that if I wanted them to have amazing birthday cakes, I’d have to learn how to do it myself. And so Marie’s Bakehouse was born. Whilst this started as purely a cake business, it has over time grown to include Risky Biscuit, which you can find in the website shop- sets of four delicious biscuits in a choice of colours and flavours, with a piped message, some on the cheeky side!
I have been awarded a five-star rating from the Environmental Health Service, I have my food hygiene qualifications and my kitchen is regularly inspected. I am fully insured and registered with the council. I also have the relevant certificate for holding children’s classes and birthday parties.
