Designed to be flexible to individual learning needs, this course will develop the learner’s confidence and knowledge in communication strategies in order to enhance inter-personal skills, improve patient and staff well-being and contribute to career development.

A willingness to participate in a high-fidelity simulated role-play situation is anticipated from learners.

On completion of this course the learner will be able to:

  • Identify the importance of good communication for the patient, the practitioner, the people and the employer.

  • Analyse barriers and facilitators to good communication

  • Reflect on communication failures in health and social care and identify strategies to improve or prevent future failures.

  • Identify and implement communication strategies and frameworks to improve own practice.
