The study of psychology will enrich students with an understanding of the behaviour, relationships and the workings of the human mind, which are relevant to many careers and professions. Students will learn social and cognitive development, human development and abnormal psychology.
Objective:
Acquire basic knowledge of psychology as a discipline;
Understand different research methods used by psychologists;
Learn major fields of psychology (abnormal, behavioural, biological, cognitive, developmental, educational, health, and sociocultural);
Recognise and respect human diversity and understand that psychological explanations may vary across populations, age groups and contexts;
Use the concepts, language and major theories of the discipline to account for psychological phenomena.
Structure:
The ADIP programme begins by introducing students to the nature of psychology as a discipline and explaining the different research methods used by psychologists. The students will understand the different fields of psychology and apply psychological principles to individual, social and organisational issues.
Entry Requirements:
For admission to the Advanced Diploma in Psychology programme:
Minimum Age Requirement: 17 Years Old
Language Proficiency: At least C6 at GCE O Level English
Diploma in Learning Disorders Management and Child Psychology awarded by College of Allied Educators; OR,
Diploma in any discipline; OR,
At least 2 subject (including a pass in General Paper) passes with Grade E and above at GCE A Level and 2 subject passes with Grade C6 and above at GCE AO Level subjects; OR,
Degree in any discipline.
For applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements, on a case-by-case basis, they may be required to take on bridging modules FIRST, before enrolling into this course.
