Aspects of Deaf culture and the Deaf community are introduced.
Designed for students with little or no knowledge of ASL. Students learn basic ASL vocabulary and grammatical structures to facilitate conversational practice at the beginning level, including introducing oneself, asking basic questions about family, friends, and surroundings, and discussing day to day activities.
Learning and practicing fingerspelling is included for English "loanwords". Aspects of Deaf culture and the Deaf community are introduced.

In our ASL classes, workshops ,and 1 on 1 sessions we use the Signing Naturally curriculum that was originally developed at a California College.Â
Students learn to handle basic every day communication.
This introductory course in American Sign Language (ASL) teaches students to manage everyday communication in ASL and integrate deaf culture and deaf community content.
It is a visual language that does not translate word-for-word into the English language.
Students practice sequencing activities by using proper clauses.
