We will provide you with a comprehensive and simple framework in which you can understand the fascinating workings of the human body.
Your Anatomy and Physiology unit is included in the course fee and you will be studying this unit whilst training as a Reflexologist with the London School of Reflexology.
We will provide you with a comprehensive and simple framework in which you can understand the fascinating workings of the human body.
This element of the course will involve both class tuition and home study. Studying each of the human body systems, you will learn about the functions of all the organs and parts of the body. In applied physiology we will go into more depth and concentrate on various conditions and how different lifestyles can influence the onset and development of diseases.
You will learn how to see the body as a world and not just individual countries. We will discuss how unrelated ailments have a connection. For example many people take antacids to help reduce the symptoms of acid reflex.
Did you know that there is an association between the overuse of anti-acids and recurring bronchitis? Anti-acids neutralize stomach acid; however, this hydrochloric acid has an important role in killing digested pathogens.
These pathogens are great tourists and can make their way up the oesophagus and down the trachea and into the lungs. These bacterium, virus, or other microorganism can cause disease and in some cases recurring bronchitis.
Reflexology with an holistic approach to health is a natural safe way of strengthening the systems of the body and helping to create better health.
You will learn about the causes and damaging effects of stress and how to treat stress-related conditions. Given that the general view is that over 75% of illness is caused by stress we can never under estimate how this can impact on all the systems of the body.
You will learn how to use a range of specialized Reflexology skills and techniques to help change the symptom pattern of disease and strengthen the body’s own healing mechanisms
Reflexology Courses
The London School of Reflexology will help you start your new career as a Reflexologist and you will be trained to the highest standard. This means your chances of a new successful career will be greater and your reflexology skills along with the holistic approach to health will give you the expertise and knowledge to help more people.
Our courses are held on a weekend once a month at Regents University, Inner Circle Regents Park. On successful completion you will be able to start your career as a fully qualified Reflexologists and practice professionally in private practice, with the NHS, set up your own practice, work in a complementary group practice or corporate environment.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves a pressure technique using the thumbs and fingers on the reflex areas found in the feet and hands. Reflexology is extremely effective and is based on the principle that reflexes in the feet and hands correspond to each organ and structure in the body, and are linked to those organs by energy channels, zones or meridians.
When illness occurs in the body, the corresponding energy channels become blocked, and Reflexology is applied to destroy these blockages, allowing the energy to flow freely again, so restoring the body's natural balance and therefore good health.
The beginnings of Reflexology are to be found in the ancient Chinese and Japanese healing arts of acupressure and massage. These ancient skills were researched and developed in 1913 by an American ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr William Fitzgerald, who was using zone therapy, as he called it, on his patients and produced amazing results.
Dr Fitzgerald discovered that pressure on one part of the body could have an anaesthetising effect within another unrelated area. By placing pegs on certain areas of his patient's fingers, Dr Fitzgerald discovered that pain could be relieved in their eyes, nose, sinuses, ears or jaw. He went on to develop a
theory that divided the body into ten vertical zones ending in the fingers and toes, and concluded that pressure on one part of a zone could affect anything else within that zone. So we can treat, for example, spinal problems, digestive disorders, hormonal related conditions, non-invasively because we can access every organ through its own specific reflex area on the foot.
Any congestion in any part of the body whether it is an old problem or a new condition will be felt in the reflexes. By applying pressure on specific areas we can help relieve and control pain and discomfort that has been suffered by someone for possible years.
As a student of the London School of Reflexology, you will learn how to use the holistic approach to health. Our work may complement traditional medicine however, it can often have incredible results as a 'tailor-made' therapy that would be developed for each individual and as a stand-alone treatment. We can use Reflexology, diet, exercise, lifestyle and attitude to life to stimulate the self-healing powers of the body.
We believe in prevention rather than cure and how we can use reflexology along with what we put into and onto our body and lifestyle to help reach optimum health.
The course inspires you to look at many aspects of modern living, the impact it has on our mental and physical health and to consider practical healthier options. We will teach you the best way to structure your reflexology treatments and adapt them to suit each individuals needs to help get better results.
We believe that with this view we can plant a seed of health which with careful nurturing will be passed on not only to those we train but every person they treat. We hope that you can use reflexology to help those you treat find their own natural rhythm again and promote the body, mind and soul to work in harmony with each other.
Our professional qualifications are recognized by Association of Reflexologist (AoR), Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), The Federation of Holistic Therapists, Awarding Body Consortium, The Institute of Complementary Medicine (ICM), Association of Complementary Therapists (ACT), Professional Reflexologist (PT), Complementary Therapists Association (CTha) and many more.
With our ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology you can open up your own reflexology business, work alongside Doctors, apply for positions in hospitals, help family and friends at a professional level, work in Spas, salons or work on cruise ships.
Our level 3 diploma is awarded by ITEC which is recognized by the regulatory bodies as an awarding body whose qualifications meet the criteria applied by QCA (Qualifications Curriculum Authority). This qualification is designed to lead to employment as a reflexologist.
The Level 1 ISAK Anthropometry course is designed for sport and exercise scientists, nutritionists, sports rehabilitators and physiotherapists who carry out body composition measures on clients as part of their professional practice or research.
This course is essential for anyone looking to offer massage treatments. The human body is a complex machine which forms the structure of your entire body.
Anatomy and physiology qualification is an essential pre-requisite for acquiring insurance, and as a basis for therapists of massage, reflexology, beauty and other body treatments.
This underpins your therapy studies, giving you an insight into the physiology needed to make informed decisions about treating your clients safely and objectively and circumstances when you would avoid or adapt treatment.
