Arabic is the first language of many Middle Eastern nations, and is also spoken in Africa, South Eastern Europe, and parts of Asia. It is a very sought after language whether being used for jobs in business and the military, or recreational travel to Arabic speaking countries. The Atlanta International Language Institute is proud to be able to offer a gateway into both the language and culture.
Classes meet once a week for 2 hours at our location, or online. The curriculum of our language program is built for groups of three to nine students who complete the material in ten weeks. We also offer more immersive classes that are seven weeks for two students, and five weeks for private lessons.

Students will learn to differentiate between silent sounds as well as long and short sounds individually and within words.
Students will learn the pronunciation of sounds and the differences at the speech level between short and long vowels.
Students will be able to understand and reply to greetings.
Students will be able to introduce themselves and family members.
Students will start to recognize words and understand their meaning.
Students will learn to read short, simple sentences.
Students will be able to identify all letters within the writing system with their different forms.
By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze words and write basic sentences.

At this level, students will learn to differentiate between the letter “noon” and the “tanween” (marking), and read words and sentences with different markings. Students will learn to identify alphabet based on location in a sentence.
Students will be able to identify a double sound and be able to analyze words and break them down into sounds. A focus will be on pronouncing long and short sounds.
Students will be able to understand simple sentences in terms of requests, instructions, and inquiries, and be able to use everyday expressions.
Students will be able to use enquiry tools and answer questions.
Students will be able to use different forms of the letters and copy and conjugate basic words.
By the end of this class, students will be able to create their own short sentences using dictation and sentence formation.

Students will learn to read short paragraphs and extract meaning and ideas from the context.
Students will learn to identify the meaning of new words from the context or picture.
Students learn to pronounce sounds in sentences, along with enhancing the pronunciation of specific letters and formation.
Students will be able to identify synonyms and antonyms.
Students will be able to copy correct formation from a board, and write what is dictated with the correct formation.

Our Arabic courses place emphasis on conversational skills. All levels of the program include some attention to culture and social customs in Arabic-speaking countries.
Beginner Arabic students learn the basics of Arabic such as greetings, classroom phrases and conversational skills. They also learn how to shop, order food and discuss in detail their schedules and activities. They can form basic sentences and can read and write some Arabic script.
