This course will teach you the essentials of how to create 2D drawings through the hands-on use of AutoCAD. You will be taught under the guidance of an industry-experienced, Autodesk-Certified Instructor.
Who is this Course for?
This course is for beginners looking for an introduction to 2D AutoCAD or for existing AutoCAD users who wish to develop their basic AutoCAD skills to a nationally-recognised standard.
What you'll Learn
During this course, you will learn the essentials of how to use AutoCAD, in 2D, to produce CAD drawings. You will learn how to edit drawings, annotate and hatch them and carry out other key features to produce basic precision technical drawings.
4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including Maths and/or English or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject plus GCSEs in Maths and/or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in Maths and/or English.
We will invite you to a Course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.
Some Level 2 Technical qualifications may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course. This may include having English or Maths at Grade 4

To join this course, you do not need to have any previous CAD experience. However, you will need an enthusiasm for learning AutoCAD.You will need a working understanding of English and Maths and the ability to use Windows-based computers confidently.
Entry Interview
You need to attend an interview – in person or by phone. Phone interviews can be arranged, as necessary; call 0117 3122703 or email [email protected].If you want a college-based, in-person interview, sessions are on Wednesdays at the College Green Centre, during term time, in room 6E22H, at 16:00.
You do not need to book, just sign in at reception and allow upwards of an hour, just in case you visit us during a busy time. Other times can be arranged, simply call or email as above.
How is the Course Delivered and Assessed?
This course is a flexi-course which allows you to attend college as and when you can. Once enrolled, you can tailor your course timing to suit your needs. The course takes around 60 hours to complete, which must be done within a year of starting – how quickly is up to you.
You will be assessed through tests at the end of the course, as set out by City & Guilds. If successful, you’ll receive a nationally-recognised CAD qualification, along with an Autodesk ATC Certificate of Completion confirming your achievement.
Future Career and Study Opportunities
After successfully completing this course, you will be equipped with the essential skills and knowledge to complete basic 2D technical drawings / illustrations using AutoCAD.
This course can help start you on a career which requires the ability to create technical drawings in a variety of fields.
You can progress onto other CAD courses on offer. We recommend doing CAD: AutoCAD 2D Advanced next to get to a suitable level of ability for working in most drawing offices.

Enrolment on the course entitles you to download a free copy of AutoCAD, for educational purposes, from Autodesk. It is assumed that you already have a suitable computer to use this on.

The AutoCAD Civil 3D Fundamentals training is designed for Civil Engineers and Surveyors who want to take advantage of AutoCAD Civil 3D software interactive, dynamic design functionality.
This course is open to applicants with basic technical drawing skills and intermediate computer literacy. Using hands on exercises, you will learn features, commands and methods for creating, editing, dimensioning, annotating and printing AutoCAD drawings.
Both AutoCAD and Revit are offered as standalaone courses. These courses will be covering both programs in great depth although in order to become a trained interior designer you are advised to advance to the Design and Construction Course.
