Award in COSHH (Level 2)

This course is aimed at learners who have access to an environment where they may come into contact with hazardous substances. Hazardous substances include Biological Agents in Health care and Types of Dusts that have the potential to be inhaled in Manufacturing Units or Construction Sites etc.

It also includes workplaces in areas such as manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and office environments as well as classroom environments for any CLP Classified substance which falls under COSHH. The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to recognise the risks associated with hazardous substances and how to control them.

What’s the course about?

The course enables the learner to understand the principles of hazardous substances in the workplace. The learner will understand how a hazardous substance can cause risk to a person.

The course covers the process of risk assessment principles and looks at the risk control hierarchy for substances. It looks at the information given by suppliers for Chemicals that fall under the CLP Classified substance list and assesses chemical content and usage, and safe procedures for dealing with an incident.

Assessment:

• This 5-hour course is certificated as an Awareness course.

• Refresher training is normally every 3 years.

Certification:

• The Level 2 COSHH certification demonstrates that the learner has successfully achieved suitable and sufficient knowledge in COSHH at this level.
