Award in Manual Handling of People (Level 2)

This qualification is intended as further development for those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is a part of their role.

It is underpinned by the safe principles of moving and handling, but recognises the special skills required when assisting and moving people.

What’s the course about?

The course enables the learner to understand the reasons for safe manual handling, and how a manual handling risk assessment contributes to safe lifting. The course also covers the principles and testing requirements of lifting aids, and facilities the understanding of safe manual handling principles.

Assessment:

• This 1-day course is certificated as an Awareness course.
• Refresher training is normally every 3 years.

Certification:

• The Level 2 Award in Manual Handling certification demonstrates that the learner has successfully achieved suitable and sufficient knowledge in Manual Handling practices to this level.
