Bachelor of Laws with Honours

Bachelor of law with honours was first offered in july 2006. The programmed has received the quality certificate (mqa 06332) and full accreditation (mqa/fa0458) from the malaysian qualification agency in 2010. 

Bachelor of Law with Honours is a full-time study. The duration of the programme is four (4) years covering TEN SEMESTERS which consist of eight (8) regular semesters and two (2) short semesters with three (3) months of industrial training for each short semester. Teaching and learning methods for each course are conducted through lecture, tutorial, practical, presentation, project and industrial training.

The program aims to produce graduates who possess sufficient command of knowledge, skills and aptitude in law to serve the profession, society, nation and humanity. At the same time, possess skills for lifelong learning and career development, and also develop a sense of awareness to uphold rule of law and social justice.

Program Learning Outcome (PLO)
Upon completion of this program, student should be able to:

• Illustrate an understanding on the fundamental of legal principles, concepts and theories and authoritative sources of law in Law or Shariah Law;
• Perform critical, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply relevant principles, concepts and theories in Law or Shariah Law to a given situation;
• Demonstrate adequate level of proficiency in required languages such as Malay Language, English and Arabic Language (whichever is suitable) and practical skills including communication (oral and written), negotiation, client counselling and interview, mooting and research skills;
• Explain international development in Law or Shariah Law;
• Build understanding about the working environment of Law such as in the courts, law firms, corporations and legal aid centres;
• Display an awareness, and as far as practicable, internalise the ethics and etiquette of the profession, as well as moral obligations to the community and humanity;
• Apply managerial and entrepreneurial skills to establish career opportunities in legal profession;
• Apply relevant skills for lifelong learning and continuing professional development;
• Demonstrate understanding of rule of law and social justice; and
• Demonstrate knowledge of jurisdictional dispute between Shariah Court and Civil Court.
• Demonstrate an understanding in the value of ethics and professionalism in accordance with the Legal Profession Act 1976 or Shariah Courts ethical rules;
• Demonstrate reasonable knowledge of practical skills such as drafting of pleadings, contractual documents, knowledge of advocacy skill and knowledge on alternative dispute resolution;
• Demonstrate competency in relevant courts procedures concerning civil and criminal action as well as other subject areas.
