This degree is the flagship program of the virtual Newcastle International Hotel School. It prepares future leaders to navigate the dynamic landscape of the global tourism industry.

Through internationalised industry-relevant curricula, this degree emphasises ethical and inclusive practices in tourism, hospitality and events. Students gain a deep understanding of the contemporary tourism industry and its environmental, social, cultural, and economic impacts.

Through the combination of coursework and career-ready work placements, our graduates are equipped with strategic management and responsible leadership skills for a positive global impact.

The Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events can be studied as a stand-alone degree, or combined with a TAFE NSW Advanced Diploma in Travel and Tourism Management, or Hospitality Management, or Event Management.

Students selecting this combined program option will gain two qualifications in the 3-year period (for domestic students) or 3.5-year (for international students).

This option allows you to finish your TAFE NSW Advanced Diploma in the first 18 months (while also studying at the University of Newcastle) to fast-track your employability in the visitor economy.

 

Career-ready placements

You will complete 140 hours of supervised work placement within your final year of study to enable you to apply knowledge developed throughout your studies and acquire new skills and professional networks to support your career readiness.

This professional experience course provides an opportunity for you to undertake workplace experience in your desired career field.
