Course Details

Badminton is a racquet sport played using badminton racquet which is used to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Due to its simplicity, Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor badminton court. There has been a tremendous response and interest in Badminton as a sport in India lately.

The fact that this is an excellent physical activity and is an all-weather sport makes it even more exciting. Lately, India has done so well at the international stage and also has grabbed worldwide attention with the launch of Indian Badminton League. With super coaches and star players like Prakash Padukone, Pullela Gopichand, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Srikanth Kidambi setting the court on fire.

 

Benefits:

  • Physical fitness: Between running, lunging, diving and hitting, playing badminton burns fat at approximately 450 calories per hour. This kind of cardiovascular workout can help keep you in tip top shape, especially if you’re looking for a good alternative cross-training exercise.
  • Increased muscle tone: Playing badminton builds and tones the quads, glutes, calves and hamstrings. In addition, your core muscles, arm and back muscles get a workout as well. In addition to improving flexibility, players also gain muscle strength and endurance.
  • Social health: You’ll need at least one opponent, but you can also play with a teammate and two other opponents. The social interactions of a game will result in positive feelings after a session on the court. Joining a league can also help you become part of a community.
  • Good for overall health: As with all forms of physical exercise, badminton can reduce or eliminate your risk for many health problems, such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. It can also reduce your risk for coronary heart disease by reducing your triglyceride levels and increasing your “good” cholesterol.
  • Weight loss: Badminton can also help with weight control because of its fat-burning and metabolism boosting qualities. Combined with a proper diet, optimal weight loss may be achieved.

 

Coaching Plan

  • Beginner level
  • Fitness – warm ups, cardio, agility, strength and flexibility and footwork
  • Forehand Grip and Forehand service
  • Forehand clear, forehand and backhand net shots
  • Forehand and Backhand lift & drive
  • Front and back drills

Badminton coaching with only footwork and drills can get monotonous. Hence we try to make it fun by introducing games at the end which kids can enjoy as well as apply the techniques that are essential to learn badminton.

Our sessions include shuttle picking, shadow practice, footwork and court coverage drills, multi shuttle feeding, continuous rally drills to have variations and to gradually improve the range of shots.This combined with our tournament practice and quarterly assessments ensure that students are improving their quality of play as they progress.
