Basic Food Hygiene for Care Staff

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at care staff performing low-risk tasks and other similar duties regarding food handling and preparation within various care settings. 

What will I learn?

This course aims to educate care staff who do not work directly with preparing or handling food but work in an environment where food is dealt with elsewhere or only with low-risk foods. The course familiarises the learner with basic food hygiene practices so they can work safely near food.

• Food Safety – Exploring why food safety is so vital 

• Food Poisoning – Symptoms and Causes 

• Growth of Bacteria – Temperature Danger Zone 

• Hygiene Control – Personal Hygiene 

• Pest Control – Kitchen Layout/design – Temp. Control 

• Cleaning and Disinfection – Food Hygiene (The Law) 

• Know the importance of time and temperature of food safety. 

Assessment

Individuals are assessed via a multi-format question paper. 

Certification

Upon successfully completing this course, delegates will be provided with a certificate valid for 3 years.
