This qualification can be achieved Nationally or Internationally to allow students the opportunity to work in South Africa or to travel the world with a recognised International Qualification.
1. Skincare
Skin care is the range of practices that support skin integrity, enhance its appearance and relieve a variety of different skin conditions.
Practices that enhance appearance include the use of skin cleansers, toners, exfoliation, massage techniques, moisturisers, gels and serums. Skin care is a daily routine that enhances the overall appearance of the skin and aids in preventing conditions like pigmentation, acne, dehydration etc.
2. Make-Up
The application of professional products such as foundation, setting powder, eye-shadow, eye-liner and lipstick to enhance the overall appearance of the face.
Contouring and highlighting is an excellent way to reshape, enhance or hide facial shapes and blemishes.
Make up applications include but are not limited to Day Make Up, Evening Make Up, Bridal Make Up, Special Occasion Make Up and Fantasy Make Up.
3. Manicure & Pedicures
Traditional manicures and pedicures are treatments performed on the natural nail on both the hands and the feet. It involves filling, shaping and trimming of the cuticles, removing hard skin on the feet, massage and finishing the nails with a nail paint.
Specialized hand and foot treatments, paraffin and hot oil treatments, anatomy of the hands and feet, skin structure. Nail diseases and disorders, contra-indications, nail products and ingredients.
4. Waxing
Waxing is the process of hair removal from the root by using a covering of a sticky substance, such as wax, to adhere to body hair, and then removing this covering and pulling out the hair from the follicle.
Hot and strip waxing of the legs, bikini, underarms, forearms and face. Skin histology and hair structure. Skin diseases and disorders, effects of hormones o=in relation to hair growth, wax products and ingredients. Sugaring and other forms of hair removal are covered in the theory.
The Academy is authorised by SAAHSP, CIDESCO, ITEC, Services Seta & QCTO to offer their training through a variety of courses in beauty health & skincare as well as hairdressing and barbering.
Training is comprehensive and all courses provide a balance of theory and practical training, with the content of each course continually reviewed and updated.
It is a policy of the Academy to apply Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) procedures in an attempt to acknowledge former study achievements, especially for more mature learners.
A happy, relaxed but orderly atmosphere is preserved at the Academy where students enjoy the experience of learning in a safe and hygienic environment.
