This course will give you a great grounding in the techniques and theory behind a wide range of beauty treatments. From the beginning, you’ll work in our state-of-the art Opus Salon. When you’re confident, you’ll treat real clients to a commercial standard with the support of our highly qualified tutors.
Learners have the opportunity to be involved in a range of extracurricular activities and community projects, including Totton Carnival.
Whether you want to work in a salon, spa or for yourself, this course will get you on the path to becoming a modern beauty therapist.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) and above, including Maths and English, or a Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. Learners who do not have grade 4 or above in English and/or Maths study them alongside their course.

You’ll take part in 60 hours’ work experience during the year in a relevant setting.

Assessment
You’ll be assessed through a combination of portfolio evidence, practical tasks, and knowledge and understanding tasks or an online test. Clinic hours will also need to be completed outside of your teaching timetable.

As part of the course, you get the chance to be involved in a range of extra-curricular activities and community projects – including Totton Carnival.
Career and Progression
You can continue to develop your skills by progressing to a Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, which is highly desirable within the beauty industry, or you can start your career in a salon with an apprenticeship.

The VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General (500/8860/9) is a substantial vocational qualification that will confirm your competence as a beauty therapist. It is the perfect course for those who do not have 6-18 months to train and study.
The Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy offers learners the chance to build on a wide range of skills, from nail technology, facials, make up, waxing and lash and brow treatments through to body massage and facials.
This is a vocational qualification which builds on beauty therapy skills to allow you to develop an enhanced repertoire of specialist beauty therapy techniques to prepare you for employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist.
Designed to introduce you to an extensive range of practical skills and knowledge to act as a foundation for you to build your confidence as a junior Therapist and progress onto the next level of Beauty Therapy qualifications.
This range of practical and knowledge-based qualifications have been created to develop and equip therapists with skills, competencies and expertise in beauty therapy treatments – primarily relating to the face, hands and feet.
