Beauty Therapy (Level 2 Technical Certificate)

LCBT's Level 2 Technical Certificate in Beauty Therapy covers the essential knowledge and understanding needed to help you start your career as a therapist. Learners can complete this course if they are between the ages of 16-18 and have a Level 4-9/A-C or above in both English and maths.

This qualification will provide you with a range of technical knowledge and practical skills which will enable you to gain employment or complete further training in the Beauty Therapy industry. When you complete your qualification you will be graded a pass, merit or distinction and will be able to progress onto Level 3.

The qualification is divided into units which cover a different area of work as you train to become a Beauty Therapist. To achieve your qualification you will need to achieve one synoptic exam which is similar to a trade test and one exam which is sat under exam conditions. For the synoptic assessment you will be asked to carry out a range of treatments in a salon environment over 4-5 hours.

This will require you to complete a range of treatments such as facials, manicures and hair removal. You will complete mock assessments to ensure you are fully prepared. The exam will draw information from the key areas of your qualification to confirm recalled knowledge and applied understanding.

Grades from your synoptic assessment and exam will make up your final grade. Your synoptic assessment will contribute to 60% of the final grade and your exam 40%

The units that you study will provide you with the skills to perform many of the beauty treatments on offer in salons across the UK. Units include Facials, Gel polish and eyebrow and lash enhancement as well as Anatomy and Physiology and Principles of practice for Beauty Therapists.

You will be provided with a uniform to wear whilst you are at college and a beauty kit that you will own to support you completing your practical treatments and to be used personally.
