Beginners Tap classes are offered by Sylvan School of Dance. We encourage our students to develop knowledge and understanding of dance technique, musicality and artistry. Our goals are to create enjoyment and creativity in dance movement and strive towards a professional level.

At Sylvan School of Dance we welcome children aged 3 years and upwards and offer classes in a variety of dance genres which we hope will appeal to anyone with a love of dance.
Sylvan School of Dance is a close-knit, friendly school offering dance to pupils of all abilities. We offer syllabus classes based on RAD ballet and ISTD modern and tap teaching methods. Examinations are offered in these subjects.
In addition, we offer a number of supplementary non-syllabus classes to compliment these and pupils may elect to participate in as many or as few classes as they wish.
We also produce school shows staged in a local theatre, offer summer workshops and participate in local dance competitions.

A fun, rhythmical dance style. Tap is as popular today as it was in its heyday when the likes of the great Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly were tap dancing on the big screen. It’s been brought bang up to date with shows like 'Tap Dogs' and 'Stomp.'
Tap is all about sound and rhythm. Here we wear tap shoes to create rhythmical variation while we dance and develop musicality and showmanship.

Tap is another very popular form of dance and it is ideal for developing rhythm and timing in all ages. Tap dancing focuses on developing strength in the feet, ankles and thighs and is also good for improving balance.
Tap dance is great for giving you energy and improving your brain workings! Besides improving your stamina it is great fun.
