The complete course focuses on two important aspects of first level job roles in Accounting:

  • Bookkeeping including VAT Calculations
  • Payroll

Bookkeeping focuses on recording and processing daily financial transactions such as purchases, expenses, sales, and receipts. This is a record-keeping activity that is the basis of all the financial reports that are done in Bookkeeping. It is very important to keep an up to date, accurate and true record of all the transactions which is provided in this training course. The use of different accounting software like Sage, QuickBooks, Xero and excel spreadsheets to record these transactions and get your hands-on practical training in and accounting environment. Having practical experience in the accounting software's and being qualified in these is an important step towards a job placement as a bookkeeper.

Our Payroll course is ideal for those who are new to it and require training on the fundamental elements of payroll processing such as setting up employees, processing payslips, maintaining statutory payments, submission of RTI and calculating deductions from pay using the payroll accounting software like SAGE, XERO, and QuickBooks. You will also be learning rules around Auto Enrolment Pension Scheme. This course provides a good working knowledge of the different bookkeeping and payroll methodologies.   • In the past few years, there has been a lot of changes being done by HMRC in rules around submission and processing payroll. The new rules RTI submissions and Auto enrolment pension scheme have brought the payroll skills into light.

There are two software used for the payroll training at Future Connect training:

  • Sage Payroll
  • Bright pay payroll software

The Trainees are going to cover the following:

  • Payroll Theory and academic understanding- Our trainees come from different academic backgrounds and it is important to collate all the information into a detailed workshop session to bring all the trainees at one page. The workshop includes an introduction to all the HMRC forms, technical aspects, important dates, tax codes and year-end adjustments. It also includes a reference to HMRC website for more up to date knowledge.
  • Getting Started with the Setup- The payroll training starts with a complete introduction of various computerised options to assist with the payroll function. The introduction includes setting up employee records, managing the pay elements, deductions, overtime and statutory payment rules. The introduction also includes a detailed look at the P11d forms.
  • Tailoring the Software to your company specifications- The software are very intelligent and detailed in there functionality. You can tailor them to every detail you want. This is where the Payroll training becomes interesting, you learn how to set up the company pension schemes, statutory payment rules and holiday schemes specific to your company or sector.
  • Processing Wages and payments- Setting up the employees, processing pay elements, setting up the hourly, weekly or monthly pay rates. Generating the payslips and summary reports.
  • Dealing with Statutory pay- The course covers the requirements of Statutory Sick Pay (SSP); Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) and Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) to ensure you’re working with legislation.
  • Processing Starters and Leavers- The basics of adding and removing people from the system, looking at the documentation required when people join and leave the business.
  • Real-Time Information (RTI) processes- Understand the commitments of RTI for employee PAYE and ensure you are working to the government guidelines.
  • Reports & Backups- Pre and Post Update reports and backups.
  • Voluntary deductions & Student Loans- See how to log these and how to incorporate voluntary deductions and student loan payments into payroll systems.
  • Payments due to HMRC- This covers a number of different payments a business is required to make to HMRC, looking at the requirements, process and legalities of fulfilling this.
  • Calculating the Cost of Wages- See how SAGE Payroll can help you calculate the cost of wages through its automated systems.
  • E-submissions- See how to submit accounting information and make payments online.
