Feed the Mass's Food Education program is now going virtual. The mission is the same and now going global. We are going to empower the community through food.
We have been doing it since 2016, and directly we can reach our community on a national scale.Through our virtual cooking classes, you will be able to cook alongside Chef Jacobsen and many other chefs as they guide you through unique dishes.
These classes are just about cooking, and they are also about the culture, nutrition, and sourcing of the food. Knowledge is power, and when it comes to what you eat, you must be informed.
Master new baking techniques and always have homemade bread just a recipe away. In this class, we cover the essentials, from working with yeast and mixing dough to the importance of proofing.
Learn to make either sweet, braided challah, French baguette, Fougasse, Focaccia, or sour dough bread. With the sour dough class we will even give you some sour dough starter that is over 100 years old so that you can make more at home!
Fill your home with the scent of fresh-baked bread. In this 3-hour class, practice mixing and shaping dough for Italian focaccia and crispy breadsticks, and discover how a Dutch oven delivers perfectly crusty French loaves. What could top these rustic European breads? Homemade salted butter!
During this class, you'll learn how to make perfect Italian sourdough bread with the same equipment you can find in a regular home kitchen.
Mix and knead your own yeasted bread dough from scratch… the best way to see the gluten development giving bread its structure. We'll cover yeast, gluten, timing and starters. Recipes covered are Classic Sourdough, Focaccia, and Challah.
