The course structure will differ depending on whether the delivery is at UWE Bristol or Gloucestershire College. 

UWE Bristol delivery:
The optional modules listed are those that are most likely to be available, but they may be subject to change.

You'll study:

  • Professional and Academic Skills 
  • Information Systems Dissertation or Information Technology Project.

Plus, optional modules (the number depending on credit requirement) from:

Gloucestershire College Delivery:
You'll study:

Learning and Teaching

  • Most of the taught material is presented over two semesters. Some modules are shorter and are taught over one semester.
  • You may find yourself studying more in one semester than the other, depending on which modules you've chosen. You'll be taught alongside final year students from other degree courses for many of your modules.
  • Learn through a mix of formal lectures, small group tutorials and practical sessions in laboratories.
  • Prepare for classes by undertaking specified reading and practical work. Work collaboratively with fellow students in project groups.
  • Attend regular presentations from visiting professionals and find out about challenges and opportunities in the industry.

Assessment

  • Modules are usually assessed with a combination of exams and coursework. The coursework can vary from practical programming to written reports.
  • Individual projects are usually assessed through the project report and an oral examination.

  • Our industry standard facilities will help you develop practical skills and bring ideas to life.
  • Access over 500 workstations in UWE Bristol's 24-hour computing laboratories. Create and test software in Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems on our dedicated servers.
  • Collaborate with classmates and develop strategies and presentations in our well-equipped studios, designed to reflect a real-world development environment.
  • A mix of traditional and creative learning environments will enable you to learn essential knowledge and real-world skills, standing you in good stead for your professional career.
