Course Details

Study tourism and hospitality management on an international scale in Canterbury - a UNESCO World Heritage city with a thriving tourism and hospitality industry. With a university degree in hospitality management and tourism from Canterbury, this will enlighten your studies as you work within such a popular UK destination.

On this International Tourism and Hospitality Management degree, you’ll engage with a variety of topics, such as dark tourism, marketing, gastronomy, and sustainability, which will enable you to gain a deep and thorough understanding of the industry.

What’s more, you’ll delve into the ethics of international tourism management, and go on overseas trips during your first and second year. This fully funded module will allow you to explore areas of study that you’ve researched throughout your course, including the impact of tourism, hotel management, and cultural policy.

Enhance your work experience with an internship or voluntary work – our teaching staff are wholly supportive of students undertaking roles that will benefit their studies.

You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved with our thriving, research-active Tourism and Events Research Hub, where you can find internships and get involved in innovative research.

How You’ll Be Assessed

Throughout your course you will be assessed using a range of methods, including written assignments, which could be an essay, blogs and digital media, business report, and a portfolio, as well as presentations and project work. In some modules you will be assessed through exams. You will experience both individual assessment and group work.

In Year 3, you will produce a dissertation on an international tourism topic of your choice and a supervisor will be appointed to help guide you through the process.

You will receive 'formative' feedback as your progress through your modules and there is at least one formal or 'summative' assessment for each module, which counts toward your module grade.
