Students who attend the simulated training are expected to wear the required safety attire (Helmet, Safety Shoes and an overall) at all times.
The Competency Based Modular Training (CBMT) is the first stage in your career path that will allow the student to attain artisan status by successfully completing a trade test, after the prescribed work-based (on-site) experience.

There continuous to be a need for qualified artisans to support and grow the economy of South Africa. Although artisan occupations are primarily focused on hand skills and practical ability, they are supported by a substantial amount of general or vocational or fundamental knowledge learnt at a College for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET College).
A career in Engineering is very demanding. It will be expected from you to work long hours and also on week-ends and public holidays to meet the demand and targets as set by the employer. As reward the salaries of qualified artisans compare favourable to other careers. There is also the opportunity to start your own business.
What is a Carpenter & Joiner?
A Carpenter and Joiner makes, fixes and installs furniture and other wooden objects. Some carpenters work on building sites – hanging doors, making specialised window frames, cupboards and wall units.

During your studies you will learn the fundamental aspects of carpentry and joinery. You will gain knowledge of fox-wedging, timber connectors, floor trimming and boards, masonry nails and hanging doors, which will improve your understanding of the processes within the construction industry.
It prepares students to either go on a learnership, or to be skilled enough to seek entry level employment in the woodwork and cabinetry industry. The theory and practical projects prepare students to become employees as well as equip them to become self-employed.
The course has 15 lessons of up to 2 hours each, divided up into three levels of five lessons each. When the course has been completed, students wh had no prior (or very little) woodwork knowledge are able to start doing simple woodwork projects on their own.
Carpentry course is offered by EASTC, a practical training college. Our programmes are developed to equip the person with essential skills in a workshop environment over a short period of time.
