Course Details

The Beginner’s Course consists of 3 small projects (i) a bench hook, (ii) a hand sanding block & (iii) a pot trivet all of which aim to teach students :

  • safety first
  • how to measure accurately
  • use a square correctly
  • use a marking gauge
  • use a tenon saw
  • use bench & free standing pedestal drilling machine
  • use a power drill / driver
  • basics of fasteners - screw selection
  • applying the correct adhesive
  • sand paper basics
  • timber & man made boards types and properties
  • selecting the correct timber
