Carpenters use these tools to frame floor systems, assemble walls and install doors. Students learn mastering these tools in our state-of-the-art workshop and they'll apply their skills on our project site. All carpentry students work on our service learning project sites, either building a new home from the ground up or remodeling an existing house. This unique approach helps students to work in a real life setting and to work together as a group.

Our Denver beginner woodworking classes are for individuals with little or no experience. We start with the basics for all your future woodworking projects. We pick our lumber, mill it to size, glue panels where necessary, and learn a basic but strong method of joinery.
Your teacher for this class, Dave Alvarez, has decades of experience in woodworking and fine cabinetry. Join him and other students at Freeside, and make a classic, useful tote.

Learn the fundamentals of woodworking to create functional, decorative, or sculptural objects. New Students will work on guided projects while gaining fundamental skills with cutting, milling, joining, and finishing hardwoods and plywood.
