By the end of this Catheter Care Training, attendees will be familiar with reasons for catheterisation, the equipment required and the theory of catheter removal.

  • Male & Female anatomy and physiology

  • The advantages and risks associated with catheterisation

  • Reducing the risk of infection

  • Infection prevention and control procedures

  • Selection of catheter drainage options.

  • Catheter attachment methods

  • Maintaining a closed draining system

  • Obtaining urine specimens

  • Removal of the catheter (theory)

  • Positioning of the catheter (post procedure)

Catheter Care Training Assessment and Certification

After successful completion of the course a certificate of attendance will be issued which is valid for 2 years.
