Designed for students new to the medium, this course will provide the beginner with a strong foundation in the cross-cultural and historical importance, contemporary practice, and techniques in ceramics from simple hand-built forms to basic forms thrown on the wheel.
Ceramics is one of the most ancient, universally practiced, and beloved art forms around the world, dating back to 28,000 BCE.
Designed for students new to the medium, this course will provide the beginner with a strong foundation in the cross-cultural and historical importance, contemporary practice, and techniques in ceramics from simple hand-built forms to basic forms thrown on the wheel.
Topics covered this term include: clay bodies, forming techniques such as pinch, coil, slab, extrusion, throwing basic forms, simple texture making, slips, stains, glazing, and understanding of the firing process.
This course is for beginners only and students follow the set curriculum.

This class will take the beginner through basic ceramic hand-building techniques and introduce them to wheel throwing. More advanced students will work on creative individual projects to master skills and design.
This class is fantastic for kids for so many reasons. Developmentally, working in clay assists hand-eye coordination. Give a kid a lump of clay and their brain slows down to allow inspiration to manifest.
Ceramics & Sculpture Workshop is offered by Jess Kamens Photography.He make technical terms easy to understand in our fun, mindful learning environment. Learn the basics in addition to several artistic and creative techniques.
Ceramics Workshop is offered by Gallery on the Square.The Gallery on the Square is a retail art gallery which promotes local artists of all mediums.
We will be modeling clay figures from a live model. All poses will be standing. There will be six successive poses: six: three one week poses, two two week poses, and one three week pose. You will need an armature to do a standing figure.
