DurationThis course provides beginners with knowledge and understanding of the basics of fashion design. Learners will be guided on how to conduct research and to conceptualise a design theme.
Areas of study include research methodologies, seasonal trends and target markets, design development and fashion figure drawing. At the end of this course, learners will be able to produce a simple fashion collection in 2D format using digital imaging software.
Module 1 - Fashion Design Essentials (8 sessions x 3 hours):
This module introduces the basics of fashion design. Learners will gain knowledge and inspiration through fashion history, shapes and silhouettes, colour and trend inquiries. They will also learn practical skills in fashion figure drawing.
Module 2 - Digital Designing (8 sessions x 3 hours):
This module aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to create professional presentation boards using digital imaging software. Through weekly exercises, learners will be able to design digital fabric swatches in various motifs, prints and textures. They will then transfer these swatches onto the outfits that are relevant to their design theme.
You will experience a practice-led curriculum which embraces a contemporary practice that leverages on our cultural heritage, with the aim of nurturing your creative attitudes and critical thinking.
We offer authentic learning opportunities through industrial attachments and internships, industry and community projects, and teaching practices through a steadfast network of esteemed creative industry partners.
Learn to make your own basic pants (Salwar) and a basic top (Kameez) from start to finish. Those who prefer want to tailor their own clothes will pick up skills.
The course gives students the creative and technical knowledge and skills they need to become professionals in the fashion industry. Using an integrated approach that combines creativity and applied technical proficiency, it takes students from design concepts.
Mod Dress Workshop course training is offered by Sing Mui Heng for all skill level.
Knitting Foundation class is an intensive 3 hour session to cover all the basics you need to know about knitting. The focus of this workshop is to understand your stitches and learn the basics of knit and purl.
In this 3 hour class, you will learn the concept of linocut, design considerations and carve your design on a rubber block (recommended for beginners) and of course fabric printing techniques.
