DurationThis course provides beginners with knowledge and understanding of the basics of fashion design. Learners will be guided on how to conduct research and to conceptualise a design theme.
Areas of study include research methodologies, seasonal trends and target markets, design development and fashion figure drawing. At the end of this course, learners will be able to produce a simple fashion collection in 2D format using digital imaging software.
Module 1 - Fashion Design Essentials (8 sessions x 3 hours):
This module introduces the basics of fashion design. Learners will gain knowledge and inspiration through fashion history, shapes and silhouettes, colour and trend inquiries. They will also learn practical skills in fashion figure drawing.
Module 2 - Digital Designing (8 sessions x 3 hours):
This module aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to create professional presentation boards using digital imaging software. Through weekly exercises, learners will be able to design digital fabric swatches in various motifs, prints and textures. They will then transfer these swatches onto the outfits that are relevant to their design theme.
