Clarinet lessons at Charlotte Academy of Music are engaging and tailored to each student’s individual needs. We enjoy helping beginning students get started in music lessons.
More advanced students are often assisted in preparing for solo and ensemble and school band auditions. Whether you are new to the clarinet or an experienced player, we look forward to working with you!
You will find a multitude of concert opportunities and special events at CAM. Although none are required, we do find that most students make more progress when they have regular performance goals to work towards.
Performing also builds a student’s confidence! Ask your teacher which performance opportunities might be best for you. We definitely have plenty of choices!
Welcome To Charlotte Academy Of Music.
Our website provides an excellent overview of the programs offered at Charlotte Academy of Music. However, the intangibles, those things that color and enliven our programs, cannot be sufficiently described in print.
The caliber, the exuberance and skill of our faculty, the joy and natural progress in our classes and summer camps, the commitment to music theory and a deeper understanding of music, the multitude of performance opportunities, access to guest composers and clinicians in master classes and so much more — these are what need to be experienced directly.
We invite you to begin, or continue, your musical journey with us. We look forward to seeing you in our hallways, private studios, classes, competitions and recitals!
Our Mission:
Our highest priority at CAM is equipping our students, through the beautiful vehicle of music, to have happy, fulfilling lives. We value and support our students. In our community of families, staff, and teachers we uplift one another and celebrate each other’s achievements.
We believe to fully equip our students for success, we must provide an inspiring environment, proven teaching methods, outstanding facilities, exceptional teachers, a supportive staff, and a high level of communication.
Through our educational opportunities, assessments, and performances we challenge and inspire our students towards greater confidence and musical excellence.
We recommend that most clarinet students begin lessons at 5 or older. The clarinet is the typically the easiest of the woodwinds instruments to begin on, because it requires less lung capacity to produce a clean tone than the other woodwinds instruments
Generally the child needs to be able to support the clarinet and reach and cover all the keys with his/her hands. Most children can do this by around 5th grade. If the child is ready for this before 5th grade, great! If not, starting on a recorder or other child-friendly instrument is recommended
Diller-Quaile offers a program of woodwind and brass study for the early beginner through the advanced high school student. Woodwind study is available for flute (age six and older), oboe (age nine and older), clarinet (age six and older)
Clarinet Lessons are offered by Community Music Center. Community Music Center makes high quality music accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, regardless of financial means. Classes are offered on a sliding scale and some are completely tuition-free.
The Aim Brass and Woodwind Program, sponsored by the Divine Family, trains students in trumpet, horn, flute, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon.
