Course Details

Who is the course for? 

This course is intended for those who wish to take the first step in training to be an independent life coach or a mentor. The course is suitable for those who want to use life coaching skills and techniques in a variety of settings and roles. 

Entry requirements 

Learners must be at least 18 years old. You must have English at level 2 and Maths at level 1. You should already have completed one of the following qualifications;

  • Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills

  • Level 2 Award in Effective Listening Skills

  • Level 2 Award in Listening Support Skills

  • Learning Support (mentoring) Level 2 Certificate

  • Health and Social Care Level 2

There is no requirement for external personal life-coaching sessions. However, it is strongly recommended that candidates undertake some form of external personal development. There is no requirement for client work, but the candidate can use the skills and techniques learned in both the workplace and in personal settings. 

All applicants must be interviewed prior to being accepted onto the course.

  • skill required of a mentor 

  • the impact of coaching and mentoring on the individual, team and organisational performance
